Coorabell Site Rebuild

Wires has recently aquired some ex Linknet Transmission sites, this one in particular is in a prime location purched on top of a hill with amazing 360 degree views of Byron Shire.

The fundamental construction of the site is incredibility good, very well positioned, tall solid pole and some very well designed and build mounts on top.

Unfortunately the shipping create and small data room inside was beyond repair, so we towed in one of our mobile data center trailers, this will house the power systems and routing equipment.

This new site will form part of a major backbone upgrade we are working on.

The Fibre interconnect will be upgraded to 1000Mbps, then using state of the art cross polarity NEC iPassolink IX radios this Gigabit backbone will br extended throughout wire core network.

The deconstruction begins.

Now a majoty of the old radios and cables are gone we can start the rebuild.

Licensed Backhaul for Pinehurst

image

As you can see by the photo above, this site has become quite busy, to avoid any potential interference and to guarantee reliability we have installed an NEC iPassolink IX 18GHz licensed radio.

This can perform at 500+ Mbit and because the spectrum is licensed we can guarantee no interference by other carriers.

VDSL2 30a Bonding

Lately we have been using alot of these single port VDSL bridges, generally in environments with Cat3 cabling or where the run is more than a few hundred meters.

We typically see 100Mbit / 100Mbit over 200-300 Meters, so figured why not try using two sets in parrallel see what’s possible with two pairs.

What do you know, 200M duplex… amazing , who said 30 year old copper was obsolete.

New transmitter in Milton, Brisbane

A corporate customer in West End required 50Mbit / 50Mbit, so we found a large building across the river with fibre in the basement, and build a transmission site.

We now have extensive coverage to the east of the city.

AirFibre24 & Cambium PMP 450

We recently completed some work at our Elanora transmission site, we installed a 24Ghz Ubiquiti AirFibre 24 to 19th Ave, this has 750Mbit full duplex capacity, so that should last us a while.

Also installed a Cambium PMP 450 Access Point for our business customers, giving them a dedicated transmitter able to deliver up to 30Mbit symmetrical.

Orthomode Transducer (OMT)

We have a range of corporate plans where we offer dedicated, licensed, true unlimited internet or private layer 2 services.

Two customers happened to be a few hundred meters away from each other, at a distance of 17Kms.

So instead of putting up two antennas we used an OMT on the back of a dual polarity antenna.

This allows two completely independent radio links to share the same physical antenna.

Thanks to SAF Australia for getting us everything we needed.

Rapid Deployment Broadband – 150Mbps

We are getting an increasing number of large events requiring high capacity broadband supply for a short period of time, to achieve this we setup one of our rapid deployment trailers, point a full duplex link back to the nearest tower and pipe in up to 500 megabits.

Once we got the broadband supply to the top of the mountain we had to run fibre along the fire trail down to the administrative complex about 750 metres.

Springfield Central

Last week we finished building the Springfield Transmission site, located on the roof of an 11 storey office building in Springfield Central.

The site provides extensive coverage of the surrounding area, we can now offer high speed broadand services to residents and businesses in the surrounding region.

The site is directly opposite a major data centre, so we had a multi-core fiberoptic installed, giving us limitless expansion of backhaul capacity.

This site also has direct line of sight to our Wolfdene transmitter above Ormeau / Yatla, the next project will be linking the two.
